by Mrs. Sharon White A woman is sitting by a darkened window, she silently weeps within her heart. Her husband keeps the family sheltered - doesnt allow anyone to come in. She is alone but not forsaken. He is protecting his family from the bad, but she does not understand. She sighs with great sorrow, her heart is heavy. Yet her greatest sin is her refusal to yield willingly to her husband. Be still and silent, dear soul. Be hushed before your husband. If Queen Vashti was dethroned simply because she would not come when called, how much more is it your duty to obey the wishes of your man? Do not yield just a little, for this is not true submission. Hold in your tears for the sake of the family and fall upon your knees after your household has gone to sleep. There, alone, you will be in the presence of the Almighty and he will comfort thee. Continual tears will stream down as you give up your will, as you put aside the inward torments of the soul. Do not fret, cast aside your impatience and your demands and meekly accept the way in which you are asked to live. Being alone is not as bad as one might think. In Genesis chapter 6, we read about Noah. God was grieved that he made man. There was so much evil in the world that he decided to bring destruction with a flood. Who was saved? One family . . . alone. It is written in Romans 11:3, Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. Certainly there are more heathens in this world than children of God. It is no wonder we feel alone. Straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life but few there be that find it. How can we be surprised that we are alone? Daniel had to be alone in order to receive the visions (Daniel 10:8). Jesus often sent everyone away so he could be alone to pray. (Matthew 14:23). Great souls in history spent much time in private prayer and Biblical study. Constant social gatherings are not conducive to a close walk with God and the reason for this is because there is an unequal yoke. Where is the presence of God but with his devoted elect? Would he come in the midst of those who were not his? (Exodus 24:2). Imagine the great peace and joy you will receive when you come into the veil. This is the most beautiful place in the spiritual realm. It is a place of solitude away from man but not away from the Almighty. Frequent trips to this unseen place will change your spirit. For you can not spend much time with your eyes on heavenly visions without it making a deep and lasting impression on your soul. Who can cast his eye upon the greatness of God, the majesty of God, and not sit still before him? - Thomas Brooks. Be silent dear wife. You must realize your situation is a hidden blessing. Seek it out as gold, search for it as the greatest treasure. To be alone with God is joy. But to be alone with your own thoughts and your own grumbling is nothing more than a spiritual death.
